For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life – John 3 vs 16.
We often tend to think of God as a distant creator who is completely disassociated from our lives. Seldom do we think of Him as a loving Father who knows everything about us; is incredibly interested in our lives; and longs to hear from and communicate with us. But this is the truth. God loves, cares for, and wants so much to have a relationship with each one of us that He sent Jesus, His one and only Son to die for us.
All of us have sinned and this sin has separated us from God. The consequence of our sin is death. But God sent Jesus to die in place of us so that our relationship with Him could be restored. Jesus took on the punishment of death, punishment that we were to receive. Now why would God sacrifice the most precious person in His life for us if He didn’t love us? Think about that…
Jesus died a horrible death on the cross for us, but conquered death through His resurrection so that we could inherit eternal life and be free from our sins. The blood of Jesus was shed for us so that we could be free from the things that keep us living in a state of addiction, sadness, depression, hurt, shame, unforgiveness, fear and anxiety; the things that prevent us from experiencing love, joy, peace, and victory in our lives.
If you believe that Jesus is the Son of God; and that He died on the cross for your sins; and that God raised Him up from the dead; then you will have eternal life – your spirit will continue to live on in heaven when your fleshly body dies. It doesn’t matter who you are or what you’ve done – there is forgiveness for you through the work of the cross and the blood of Jesus.
If you believe the above… if you want to have a relationship with Father-God, then all you need to do is talk to Him. Remember, He so wants to have a relationship with you, so He is waiting and listening for your prayer… All you need to say is, “Father God, I acknowledge that I have sinned and that my sins have separated me from you… But I believe that Jesus Christ, your one and only Son, died on the cross for me. I believe that His blood was shed so that all my sins could be forgiven. I believe that Jesus conquered death because You resurrected Him. Father God, I want to have a relationship with You today, I want to come back to you; so please forgive me for all my sins, wash me clean with the blood of Jesus. I ask this in Jesus name. Amen.”
I want you to remember… If you ever feel unloved, remember that God loves you so much – enough to give up His one and only Son for you. If you ever feel worthless – remember that you are worth everything to God – even the life of His own Son. If you ever feel rejected or unwanted, remember that God treasures and cares deeply for you.
